• Applications for the DNP program will be accepted each year from November 15 until February 15. 
• No application fee.

Program Eligibility

The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Online Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program is a stand-alone, non-licensing qualifying doctoral program that is open to master’s prepared nurses in direct and indirect care roles. This program builds upon master’s competency and professional expertise. 

In using a comprehensive and holistic review of applications, we welcome applicants who are motivated to complete doctoral study with a focus on evidence translation and system-level leadership.

Admission to the DNP program is limited to qualified students who:

• Have earned a 3.3 GPA in master’s-level work.
  • Grades of B or better in statistics, research (evidence-based practice), and health assessment.
• Have a conferred master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing
• Have an unencumbered license as a registered nurse.

Application Materials Needed

• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, including any college or university you may have received college credit from while in high school.
  • For the quickest transcript processing, please contact each institution attended and request an official transcript with electronic delivery to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.
  • To receive an admissions decision, SJF cannot accept transcripts that are sent or uploaded by the student.
• Master’s degree conferred from an accredited school of nursing.
• Unencumbered active RN license
  • For advanced practice nurses (APRNs) an unencumbered license as a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, certified nurse midwife, or certified nurse anesthetist is required.
  • If applicable, national certification in your APRN or master’s specialty (preferred).
• Two recommendations:
  • A minimum of one reference from a current supervisor or peer who is prepared at the doctoral level.
  • The second reference can be from a current or past supervisor, peer, or faculty member who is prepared at the doctoral level.
• Current résumé or CV.
• Writing sample. 
  • Examples include, but are not limited to, scholarly papers written during master’s coursework, excerpts from a thesis or capstone project, professional paper, or a published journal article
• Professional Education Statement that includes:
  • Your reasons for applying to the DNP program.
  • Your long- and short-term educational and professional goals and how the DNP program will help you reach these goals.
  • How the degree will enhance your experience.
  • How, as a doctorally-prepared advanced practice nurse, you will contribute (e.g., through education, research, and practice) to enhance the health and quality of life for people of all cultures, economic levels, and geographic locations.

Interview Process

Applicants who meet the admission requirements will be required to participate in a formal interview.
