Parking Regulations and Fines

Parking and operating a motor vehicle on the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ campus is a privilege. All vehicles on the Fisher campus must be registered with the Office of Safety and Security and display a valid parking permit or pass on the vehicle.

Fisher will not be responsible for the loss of, damage to, or theft of any vehicle on SJF property.

Parking Regulations Overview

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is authorized to regulate and enforce parking of faculty, staff, students, and visitors to the University.

Registered vehicles are not guaranteed a space based on limited available parking. Parking is on a "first-come, first-served" basis. It is the responsibility of all community members and visitors to park in lined spaces in the appropriately designated lots as indicated on the Parking Map [pdf].

The University reserves the right to place a wheel lock and/or tow, at the owner’s expense, any vehicle found in violation of traffic regulations. The University will not be responsible for the loss of, damage to, or theft of any vehicle on University property.

The University reserves the right to confiscate the keys of any person who, in the judgment of the Office Safety and Security, is unable to safely operate his/her vehicle.

Tailgating Policy

To ensure a safe and enjoyable game-day experience, please review the University’s tailgating regulations before arriving on campus. We look forward to hosting you.

Tailgating is not generally permitted on the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ campus and may only be authorized by campus safety.

During any authorized tailgating event, the following rules apply:

  • Drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are strictly prohibited in all parking lots, tailgate spaces, and athletic venues.
  • Open fires and charcoal grills are prohibited. Gas grills are allowed, but propane tanks cannot exceed 20 pounds. Tailgaters are encouraged to bring their own fire extinguishers.
  • Visitors may park in parking lot S (SJF Campus Map).
  • Setting up for tailgating may not take away spaces otherwise used for parking. Therefore, there will be no tents or tables allowed unless specifically authorized.
  • No amplified music is permitted. Please be respectful of others around you.
  • Drones and motor homes are not allowed on campus.
  • Only service animals are permitted.
  • In case of lightning, please take shelter in your vehicle.
  • Glass containers are strongly discouraged.
  • All tailgaters are responsible for proper disposal of their trash and debris.
  • No weapons or objects that look like weapons are permitted on campus.
  • Failure to follow these rules may result in removal from the complex and exclusion from future events.

Parking and Traffic Fines

Vehicles found in violation of parking and traffic regulations may be ticketed, have a wheel lock placed, or be towed. Vehicle registrants are responsible for all fines and fees associated with policy enforcement.

Traffic fines will be assessed as follows per ticket:

  • Moving violations and/or speeding - $75
  • Parking in a fire lane - $50
  • Unauthorized handicap accessible parking - $50
  • All other parking violations - $25

Please note: There is a $25 wheel lock removal fee, in the event a wheel lock is affixed to a persistent violator.  

Traffic fines must be paid promptly. If a date is not specified, fines must be paid no later than the time of registration for the next semester. All financial obligations to the University must be satisfied prior to, or at the time of, registration for the next semester. Fines may be paid by mail, at Student Accounts, or the Office of Safety and Security. A hold will be placed on the accounts of students with outstanding unpaid fines.

Citations must be paid within 14 days of issuance, or a hold will be placed on your account.

Any citations received for parking in reserved ADA/Handicap parking spaces or designated fire lanes are enforced pursuant to Town of Pittsford code, and are unable to be waived. 

Parking and Traffic Violation Appeals

The University reserves the right to enforce parking regulations and traffic violations in the Student Code of Conduct. However, if a person feels they have been issued a ticket in error or there are extenuating circumstances, the appeals process is as follows:

  • Complete a Parking Ticket Appeals Request form stating the reasons and relevant information and submit it to the Office of Safety and Security.
  • The director of safety and security or his designee will review the form to determine if an error has been made or whether extenuating circumstances exist to grant the appeal. Such factors as previous history of violations or repeated violations will be taken into account.
  • The person making the appeal will be notified of the decision made in writing.
  • The director of safety and security will make the final decision in the appeal process.
  • ALL APPEALS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF CITATION ISSUANCE
